Kangra, Aug. 15 -- The sub divisional-level Independence Day celebrations were held at GAV Senior Secondary School here today amidst rain, with Kangra SDM Dr Anjali Garg unfurling the national flag and taking the salute at the march past.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Garg paid tribute to freedom fighters and urged citizens to contribute towards building a better India.
She called for concerted efforts to keep youth away from drugs, including "chitta", and stressed that public participation was essential to tackle the menace.
She also highlighted Kangra's rich cultural heritage and called for greater awareness among youngsters about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
