Kakinada, Sept. 10 -- Members of the SC/ST Welfare Forum staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday, demanding cancellation of caste certificates of Scheduled Caste persons who have converted to other religions.
The protesters raised slogans against those who, according to them, continue to avail benefits under the SC category while practising other religions.
They urged the government to implement the Constitution and Supreme Court judgments in this regard.
A delegation of the forum later met Joint Collector Apurva Bharat and submitted a representation signed by thousands of people in support of their demand.
