Raipur, Sept. 7 -- Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra took charge as the 16th Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court on Monday, with Governor Ramen Deka administering the oath of office at a ceremony held at Chhattisgarh Mandapam in Lok Bhavan. Justice Mohapatra moves to Chhattisgarh from the Orissa High Court, where he had been serving as a senior judge.

After the oath, Governor Deka handed the new Chief Justice a copy of the President's original warrant and conveyed his congratulations and best wishes. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal and union Minister of State for Agriculture Tokhan Sahu attended the ceremony.
