Ranchi, June 5 -- The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Friday staked claim to both Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand and said Chief Minister Hemant Soren would take the final decision on candidates for the June 18 election.
Addressing a press conference here, JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said the ruling alliance has the support of 56 MLAs in the 81-member Assembly, enough to secure victory on both seats.
The statement came a day after the Indian National Congress (INC) announced Pranav Jha as its nominee for the Rajya Sabha election from Jharkhand.
Bhattacharya said party workers believed both seats should go to JMM as the alliance had won both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections under Soren's leadership.
