Patna, July 13 -- High drama unfolded on the final day of nominations for the Bankipur Assembly by-election as Veena Manvi, the Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JJD) candidate backed by party chief Tej Pratap Yadav, was arrested moments after filing her nomination papers at the Patna Collectorate on Monday.
Manvi was taken into custody by a police team soon after she emerged from the nomination centre. The arrest triggered commotion inside the Collectorate premises, with Manvi attempting to leave the spot before she was detained by security personnel after a brief struggle.
Meanwhile Police officials in Gandhi Maidan police station told UNI that Manvi has been arrested under Sections 418 and 403 in connection with an old case from 2009.
