Ranchi, April 16 -- The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Jharkhand has been deferred to June due to the upcoming census exercise, the chief electoral officer said on Thursday.

Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar said the delay was due to the first phase of Census 2026, scheduled from May 1 to June 14 across the state.

He said pre-revision activities are currently underway, with booth level officers (BLOs) conducting door-to-door verification of voters.

Kumar urged people to cooperate with BLOs, stating that the exercise would help streamline voter records and reduce the need for future visits to government offices.

He said parental mapping of voters was nearing 75 per cent completion.
