Ranchi, Feb. 21 -- On the fourth day of the Jharkhand Assembly's Budget Session on Saturday, Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced major relief for Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) aspirants by fixing August 1, 2022, as the new cut-off date for eligibility.

The earlier cut-off year was 2026.

With this decision, thousands of candidates who were previously ineligible due to the earlier cut-off date will now get an opportunity to appear in the examination. However, student organisations had been demanding that the cut-off date be set as August 2018.

The Chief Minister also indicated that the state government is considering significant measures regarding deaths and damages caused by elephant attacks in Jharkhand.
