Ranchi, Aug. 3 -- A 16-year-old girl from Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, who was allegedly trafficked around six years ago, has been rescued from Delhi in a joint operation by Chaibasa Police, Delhi Police, Mission Mukti Foundation and a rescue team, officials said on Monday.

According to an official release, the victim alleged during counselling that she was trafficked from Jharkhand as a minor, forced into domestic work in Delhi, later taken to Mumbai and subsequently sold to an unidentified man in Punjab for Rs 1 lakh, where she was allegedly forced into marriage and subjected to physical and mental abuse.
