Ranchi, June 21 -- Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Sunday called upon citizens to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives, saying it was a holistic way of living that promotes physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

Addressing a mass yoga session organised at Birsa Mandap in Lok Bhavan on the occasion of International Yoga Day, the governor said yoga was India's unique gift to the world and had emerged as a powerful medium for healthy living and global welfare.

He said the United Nations General Assembly had declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014 following the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting global recognition of India's cultural heritage and commitment to human welfare.
