Ranchi, March 18 -- The Jharkhand Congress on Wednesday hit back at the BJP over allegations of corruption, terming them baseless and politically motivated.

State Congress spokesperson Sonal Shanti said the BJP, which was in power in Jharkhand for several years, had itself presided over corruption, while the present Mahagathbandhan government is working to curb it.

Rejecting allegations made by BJP state president Aditya Sahu, the spokesperson said procurement through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal is transparent and widely adopted by central agencies.

He said companies themselves list prices on the portal and alleged that the BJP was raising issues without understanding the procurement process.
