Ranchi, July 16 -- The Congress on Thursday rejected BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi's allegations over Jharkhand's mining sector, accusing the BJP of promoting a mining model that favoured corporate interests at the cost of forests and tribal communities.

Addressing a press conference, Jharkhand Congress spokesperson Akhtar Ali said the Hemant Soren-led government was committed to sustainable development and the protection of jal, jungle and zameen, unlike the BJP's approach of indiscriminate mining.
