Ranchi, April 25 -- A colloquium on crimes against women, with focus on witch-hunting in Jharkhand, stressed stricter enforcement and victim rehabilitation at the Jharkhand Judicial Academy on Saturday.

Supreme Court judge and National Legal Services Authority executive chairman Justice Vikram Nath said crimes against women reflect deep structural issues and a gap between constitutional rights and implementation.

He said Articles 14, 15 and 21 guarantee equality, non-discrimination and dignity, but these remain uneven in practice. Referring to witch-hunting, Nath termed it a form of gender-based violence linked to social inequality, patriarchy and power structures.
