Ranchi, April 9 -- Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato on Wednesday reviewed the functioning of newly constituted Assembly committees and called for greater efficiency and regular meetings to strengthen legislative oversight.
Chairing a meeting of committee chairpersons at the Assembly premises here, Mahato said legislative committees play an important role in a democratic system as they include members from both the ruling side and the opposition and contribute to governance through detailed examination of issues.
He emphasised the need for regular meetings of committees and suggested that panels should visit different districts to review issues on the ground and ensure timely resolution of matters related to public welfare....
