Garhwa, Sept. 16 -- A woman declared dead in Bihar in 2014 was found alive in Jharkhand's Garhwa district during verification of documents under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
According to police, the woman was found in Kandi police station area and was taken to Bihar by a police team on September 11 after local residents identified her during the verification process.
Kandi police station officer-in-charge Ashfaq Alam said the woman had gone to Bihar to collect documents related to her voter verification when local residents recognised her and informed the police.
Police said the woman had allegedly changed her name and married another man in Kandi after leaving her matrimonial home in Bihar.
