Ramgarh, Sept. 8 -- Two persons were killed after a trailer carrying steel rods fell into a nearly 20-foot-deep pit in Chutupalu Valley of Jharkhand's Ramgarh district today, police said.

The trailer was travelling from Ranchi towards Hazaribagh when it went out of control near the Forest Department rest house in the valley and plunged into the roadside pit.

The impact of the fall was severe, and two persons travelling in the vehicle were crushed under the steel rods, police said.

Ramgarh police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies after several hours of efforts. The bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

Ramgarh police ASI Manoj Kumar said the identities of the deceased were yet to be established.
