Ranchi/New Delhi, July 17 -- The Centre on Friday discussed a proposal to set up a textile manufacturing unit at Belgaria in Dhanbad to generate employment for families rehabilitated under the Jharia Master Plan.
The proposal was discussed at a high-level meeting chaired by union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy. The meeting was attended by Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan, BCCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Manoj Kumar Agrawal and senior officials of the Coal Ministry and other stakeholders.
According to officials, the proposed unit aims to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities to families displaced due to mine fires and land subsidence in the Jharia coalfield.
