Ranchi, June 30 -- Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday paid floral tributes to tribal freedom fighters Sido and Kanhu on the occasion of Hul Diwas at Sido-Kanhu Park in Morabadi here.

Accompanied by MLA Kalpana Soren, the chief minister offered floral tributes at the statues of Sido and Kanhu, who led the Santhal Hul against British rule in 1855.

Addressing the gathering, Soren said Hul Diwas symbolised the struggle against exploitation and oppression. He said the sacrifices of Sido, Kanhu, Chand, Bhairav, Phulo and Jhano would continue to inspire future generations.
