Ranchi, Aug. 1 -- The Jharkhand High Court has sought replies from the state government and four other authorities on a petition filed by shopkeepers over non-collection of rent for 35 shops near Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi for the past 13 years.
Justice Anand Sen issued notices to the state government, Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC), Ranchi Deputy Commissioner, Sadar Hospital management and Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA) while hearing the petition.
The petition, filed by Ranjit Kumar and 14 other shopkeepers, stated that the shops were constructed by the RRDA and allotted by the RMC. The civic body collected rent till 2012 but stopped thereafter, while no other agency assumed the responsibility.
