Medininagar, Oct. 1 -- Betla National Park in Jharkhand's Palamu district reopened for tourists on Thursday after the annual three-month closure, with an open safari launched in the park's Palamu Fort area.

Chatra MP Kalicharan Singh inaugurated the tourism season in the presence of officials of the Palamu Tiger Reserve. The park remains closed to tourism activities from July 1 to September 30 every year.

Palamu Tiger Reserve Deputy Director Prajeshkant Jena and other officials were present at the reopening ceremony.

The open safari has been introduced for the first time in the Palamu Fort area of Betla, where motorcycles have been prohibited, according to officials.
