Ranchi, July 9 -- Jharkhand on Thursday organised a state-level workshop with UNICEF to strengthen implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, through better coordination among government departments.

Addressing the workshop, Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Yogendra Prasad said waste should be treated as a resource capable of generating livelihoods, energy and environmental benefits. He stressed source-level segregation, recycling, composting and promotion of "Waste to Wealth" initiatives.

Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary Arwa Rajkamal called for integrating scientific waste management with rural development through capacity building, public participation and effective monitoring.
