Bengaluru, Aug. 28 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the 2028 Karnataka Assembly elections as a key political target for the Janata Dal (Secular), calling for a stronger organisational push and closer coordination with the BJP, according to party insiders.

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy and JDS youth wing state president Nikhil Kumaraswamy met Modi in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister is reported to have discussed the party's role in the BJP-JDS alliance and the strategy required to regain power in Karnataka.

Modi is understood to have asked the JDS leadership to expand its outreach among young and first-time voters, identify their concerns and formulate programmes around issues that directly affect them.
