New Delhi, June 23 -- With cricket set to return to the Olympic Games after more than a century, International Cricket Council chairman Jay Shah used International Olympic Day to underline the sport's power to bring people together and support the IOC's mission of promoting health, well-being and community engagement through sport.
Observed annually on June 23, Olympic Day celebrates the founding of the International Olympic Committee in Paris in 1894 and encourages people around the world to embrace sport and physical activity. This year's celebrations have seen National Olympic Committees, International Federations and Olympic Games organisers host initiatives aimed at inspiring communities to stay active.
