Belagavi, Aug. 29 -- Karnataka Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi on Saturday sought to turn B Nagendra's resignation into a fresh political claim for the Scheduled Tribes community, saying the position vacated by the former minister should be given to an ST representative.
Jarkiholi's demand came even as the Congress government sought to draw a line under the controversy surrounding Nagendra, who resigned amid the alleged irregularities in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.
"Nagendra has resigned to avoid embarrassing the party. There is no need to discuss the issue further. It is a closed chapter," Jarkiholi told reporters at the Belagavi District Magistrate's Office.
