Sarnath, Aug. 22 -- A 75-member delegation from Japan's Yamanashi Prefecture, led by Governor Kotaro Nagasaki, visited Sarnath on Saturday as part of its Uttar Pradesh tour, experiencing the newly designated UNESCO World Heritage Site and its deep Buddhist heritage.
The delegation, which also included Governor Nagasaki's wife, visited important sites associated with Lord Buddha, including the Dhamek Stupa and Chaukhandi Stupa.
The visit assumes added significance following Sarnath's recent inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List, making it India's 45th and Uttar Pradesh's fourth World Heritage Site.
