Bengaluru, July 5 -- Japan is stepping up its focus on India as a key growth destination for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups, signalling a shift from traditional large-scale investments to a more broad-based and innovation-driven economic partnership, according to Japan's Consul General in Bengaluru.

His Excellency Mr. Hiroshi Nawata said the next phase of cooperation between India and Japan will be defined by deeper market integration, stronger startup linkages and expanded participation of SMEs in cross-border opportunities.
