Srinagar, March 3 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government has temporarily suspended prepaid mobile Internet services and reduced the speed of post-paid mobile data across the Kashmir Valley till Wednesday evening, citing concerns over public order and security.
According to an official order, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, the Authorized Officer under the Temporary Suspension of Telecommunication Service Rules, 2024, had directed Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to scale down postpaid mobile data services (5G/4G/3G) to 2G speed, not exceeding 128 Kbps, and to shut down prepaid mobile services, including pre-on-post (JK10) data, voice and SMS services.
