Srinagar, June 26 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a third-party audit of the Srinagar Smart City project to assess whether the works executed under the flagship urban development programme match the original proposals.

The decision was taken at a recent Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah amid growing criticism over the condition of Srinagar's infrastructure after heavy rainfall earlier this week exposed widespread waterlogging in several parts of city.

National Conference (NC) State Spokesperson Imran Dar, in a post on X earlier this week, said the third party audit would investigate what was actually delivered under the project against the original proposals.
