Srinagar, July 24 -- Shrugging off sporadic acts of terror, Jammu and Kashmir is gearing up to host its First International Film Festival from September 7 to 10.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has described the forthcoming First International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) as a landmark initiative to revive J & K 's historic association with cinema and re-establish as a preferred destination for filmmaking.
Presiding over the curtain raiser for the festival here at the Royal Springs Golf Course on Friday, the Chief Minister said the event marks the beginning of a renewed partnership between Jammu and Kashmir and the film industry, recalling a time when Kashmir was an integral part of Indian cinema.
