Jammu, Aug. 24 -- The Tribal Gujjar Bakkerwal Welfare Foundation (TGBWF) has approached the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), seeking action under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, compensation for the family and close monitoring of the investigation into the alleged repeated sexual assault of a minor Gujjar Scheduled Tribe girl in Chatroo area of Kishtwar district, followed by pregnancy and her subsequent death.
According to an official communique, TGBWF, through its member trustee Kabir Ahmed, has urged the NCST to take urgent cognisance of the matter as an atrocity-related complaint and monitor the investigation through periodic progress reports until its lawful conclusion.
