Jammu, Oct. 8 -- Shuttlers are elated as the facelift of the decades-old badminton hall, which was in shambles, has begun at the Old Indoor Complex of Maulana Azad Stadium here.

According to officials of the engineering wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, the hall is being repaired under the Flood Restoration and Reconstruction Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) Scheme.

"The nearly four decades-old badminton hall, including its courts, walls and ceiling, badly needed repairs as it had turned into an injury-prone facility," said sources.

They said that water leakage from the roof and inadequate infrastructure had rendered the facility unsuitable for regular training.
