Srinagar, Sept. 9 -- Ladakh has witnessed a sharp surge in tourist arrivals this year, with the union Territory recording 4.05 lakh visitors in the first eight months of 2026-already surpassing the total tourist footfall registered during the whole of 2025.

According to figures shared by the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena, tourist arrivals between January and August 2026 stood at 4.05 lakh, against 2.69 lakh during the corresponding period last year, marking a year-on-year increase of 50.37 per cent.

The total tourist footfall recorded in 2025 was 3.35 lakh, which has already been exceeded by 20.61 per cent in just eight months of the current year.
