Bengaluru, June 24 -- In a significant vote of confidence in India's aerospace capabilities, Japan's Jamco Corporation will give its Bengaluru engineering centre full design authority and product ownership for advanced aircraft cabin systems, backed by a US$150 million investment over the next five to six years, senior company executives said on Wednesday.
The move marks a shift from the traditional outsourcing model that has long characterised India's role in global aerospace engineering, with the company positioning Bengaluru as a centre for innovation, certification and end-to-end product development rather than a support or back-office operation.
