Chandigarh, April 7 -- The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police said on Tuesday that it solved the daylight robbery at a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in the Bank Enclave area within 24 hours of the crime, arresting a suspect who is the son of a retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DSP).
The police also recovered a portion of the looted cash along with the weapon used in the heist.
The arrested individual has been identified as Simranjit Singh, alias Amrik Singh, a resident of Green Model Town in Jalandhar. The suspect is the son of Harbhajan Singh, a retired DSP.
Providing details of the investigation, Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur stated that the robbery took place on Monday around 2:30 pm.
