Shimla, June 17 -- : Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Wednesday alleged that the Congress government was attempting to shut down and discredit popular BJP-era welfare schemes such as Sahara and Himcare, accusing it of undermining initiatives that directly benefited the people.
Addressing mediapersons in Mandi, Thakur cited the case of a Sahara Yojana beneficiary from Chhadyand village in Seraj constituency who was allegedly shown as deceased in official records despite being alive, resulting in the stoppage of his financial assistance under the scheme.
