Neeraj BaliChandigarh, Aug. 20 -- Jailed MP Amritpal Singh is considering a move that could put Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in a direct electoral contest in his own Assembly constituency, with the Waris Punjab De chief showing interest in fighting from Dhuri in the 2027 state election.
Amritpal is currently lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam and represents Khadoor Sahib in the Lok Sabha.
His party has been discussing whether he should enter the Assembly race from Dhuri, Talwandi Sabo or Rampura Phul, with Dhuri emerging as his preferred option, according to party leaders.
Rashpal Singh Sosan, a Waris Punjab De leader from Kotkapura, confirmed that the proposal was being discussed.
