Shimla, March 31 -- The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Himachal Pradesh government for the direct procurement of agricultural and allied products from local farmers.

The initiative aims to strengthen the rural economy and provide a reliable market for farmers, particularly in border areas.

Under the proposed arrangement, ITBP will directly procure fresh vegetables, fruits, milk, paneer, meat, trout fish and other locally produced commodities from farmers, cooperative societies and local producers.

The move is expected to ensure a steady supply of quality produce for the force while creating stable income opportunities for rural communities.
