New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- The Centre on Friday reiterated that the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media, Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 mandate online curated content publishers (OTT platforms) to classify content depicting liquor, tobacco, psychotropic substances and other sensitive themes, while complaints regarding violations of the Code of Ethics are addressed through a three-tier grievance redressal mechanism.
The clarification was provided by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr L Murugan, in a written reply to a question by Rajya Sabha member Haris Beeran.
