Kolkata, April 17 -- Income Tax (IT) officials on Friday conducted searches at the residence of Miraj Shah, one of the proposers of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo's candidature from Bhabanipur in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly election.
According to sources, IT teams reached Shah's Elgin Road residence amid simultaneous raids at multiple locations across Kolkata, including the houses of Rashbehari candidate and outgoing MLA Debasish Kumar.
Central forces were deployed to ensure security during the searches.
The ruling TMC alleged that the raid was politically motivated and aimed at targeting individuals associated with the party leadership.
