Bengaluru, June 27 -- India is closing in on a defining moment in its space programme, with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) set to announce the schedule for the first uncrewed Gaganyaan mission soon, even as it prepares to resume launch operations and advances a critical next-generation rocket engine, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan said on Saturday.

The first uncrewed Gaganyaan flight will be the biggest milestone yet in India's quest to send astronauts into space, serving as the first of three validation missions before the country's maiden human spaceflight.
