Tel Aviv, Sept. 6 -- Israeli security forces will conduct a large-scale, pre-planned military exercise in the southern city of Eilat and the surrounding Arava Valley along the Jordanian border beginning Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel Police announced Sunday.

The exercise, led by the IDF's 80th Division, will involve increased movement of security personnel, aircraft and naval vessels in the area over the coming days.

According to the military, forces will practice responding to a range of complex and extreme scenarios, including a surprise attack and infiltrations into Israeli territory by air, sea and land. The drills will focus on protecting communities near the Jordanian border and the Eilat area.
