Jerusalem, July 30 -- Israel has rejected key elements of a proposed roadmap for Hamas's disarmament currently under discussion in Cairo, insisting it will not withdraw its forces from Gaza until the territory is fully demilitarised, an Israeli official said.

The comments came amid reports of progress in negotiations between Hamas and international mediators on a phased plan for the group's disarmament and the future governance of Gaza.

According to the Israeli official, the proposed 15-point framework does not meet Israel's core security demands because it does not require terror group to surrender all of its weapons, including small arms.
