Jerusalem, Aug. 19 -- Israel, justifying its Tuesday strike at a Syrian airbase, told the Trump administration that the attack was aimed at preventing a Turkish military buildup in the area, according to US and Israeli officials.
The surprise strike has nonetheless made things more complicated for the White House, as it has exacerbated tensions between three US partners - Israel, Turkiye and Syria - all the while the Trump administration is locked in a war with Iran and simultaneously trying to prevent any further escalations in the region between the three nations.
