Panchkula, Aug. 18 -- The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has seized 8,349 bottles of unapproved packaged drinking water during inspections conducted on 168 trains in the Lucknow and Chandigarh regions.

The largest seizure reported in the North Zone was in the Lucknow region, where IRCTC officials, along with the Railway Commercial Department, inspected 117 trains between July 28 and August 8. The teams seized 5,241 bottles of unapproved brands of packaged drinking water.

The crackdown also yielded substantial seizures in the Chandigarh region, where inspections were carried out at stations including Ambala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Katra and Jammu. A total of 51 trains were checked, and 3,108 bottles of unapproved pack...
