Baghdad, July 5 -- Iraq's Cabinet has approved a series of preliminary energy agreements, including a deal between state-owned Basra Oil Company and a consortium comprising U.S. energy major Chevron, Qatar's UCC and U.S.-based Capital TI for strategic oil pipeline projects, the government said on Saturday.

The Cabinet authorised Basra Oil Company to sign a Heads of Agreement and a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with the consortium to advance studies related to key pipeline corridors linking southern and northern Iraq, as well as export routes through neighbouring countries, the local media reported quoting the Iraqi government statement.
