Tehran, July 4 -- Iran's security establishment has reportedly denied Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's request to attend the burial of his father and predecessor, Ali Khamenei, amid fears that Israel would either kill him or use his appearance to track down his hiding, according to a report by The New York Times.
Citing two anonymous members of the IRGC and an individual involved in organising the funeral ceremonies, the report said that Mojtaba had sought permission from the theocratic guard to attend his father's burial in Mashhad on July 9 and perform traditional funeral rites. However, security officials have so far rejected his request due to concerns over his safety.
