Tehran, Aug. 24 -- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday acknowledged that Iranians were facing "many problems" as the US prepares to impose fresh sanctions aimed at further isolating the country's economy, while defending a June memorandum of understanding with Washington as the best way out of the diplomatic deadlock.
The 60-day deadline set under the US-Iran memorandum for ending the conflict and reaching an agreement on Tehran's nuclear programme expired last week without a breakthrough, leaving the two sides in what Pezeshkian described as a state of "neither war nor peace".
