Tehran, June 11 -- Iran's Parliament warned that the country could face a major summer electricity shortfall of up to 13,640 megawatts (MW). According to a new assessment by the parliament's research arm, the war-related damages in Tehran have worsened the country's long-standing energy challenges.
The Parliamentary Research Center said peak electricity demand is expected to exceed 81,000MW this summer, while the grid is likely to be capable of supplying only about 68,420MW at maximum capacity.
The projected gap would account for roughly 17% of demand and represents one of the largest power deficits Iran has faced in recent years, reports Iran International.
