Tehran, Oct. 19 -- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi today accused the US of creating insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz, which has been at the centre of the dispute.
"The war imposed by the United States and the Zionist regime (Israel), combined with the economic blockade, constitutes the principal source of insecurity in our region," Araghchi said during a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who was visiting Tehran for talks.
Lavrov was also scheduled to meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, with discussions expected to cover bilateral ties and regional security amid concerns that hostilities between Washington and Tehran could resume.
