Tehran/Muscat, May 18 -- Iranian authorities today confirmed that Tehran is conducting consultations with Oman, along with other interested parties to develop a security framework for the vital Strait of Hormuz corridor, which Iran has virtually sealed off following its ongoing war with US and Israel, driving energy prices through the roof.
"The Strait of Hormuz lies within the territorial waters of Iran and Oman, so both coastal countries are obliged to take the necessary measures to ensure safe passage for all nations. We are in constant contact with Oman and other stakeholders to develop a mechanism to achieve this goal, and discussions are ongoing," said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei.
