Tehran, Sept. 3 -- Iran has warned the US that it would respond forcefully to any Israeli offensive against the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon, where Iranian military personnel are reportedly stationed alongside Hezbollah fighters, according to three regional officials.
The warning highlights Tehran's continued direct involvement in ground operations in southern Lebanon and its readiness to retaliate against Israeli action there as the regional war enters its seventh month.
The officials said Iran had warned Washington that a full-scale Israeli operation against the mountainous ridge would trigger a large Iranian attack.
